Shortly after parting company with X-Ray Spex, post-punk icon Lora Logic went into the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios with the first incarnation of her own band, Essential Logic.
Now officially released for the first time by Precious Recordings of London to coincide with its 45th anniversary, this is that legendary four-song session for John Peel – pre-dating the group’s debut LP, ‘Beat Rhythm News’, for which these tracks would be re-recorded, and a famous 30-date Rough Trade UK tour with Stiff Little Fingers and The Normal.
Ten-inch vinyl limited edition of 300 copies featuring a set of six postcards with previously unseen images plus download codes – and a sleeve essay by Lora Logic.

After co-founding X-Ray Spex, Lora Logic formed Essential Logic in 1978, shaping post-punk with unique sax, whimsical melodies. Their 1979 album, 'Beat Rhythm News,' stood out. After a long hiatus, Essential Logic returned in 2022 with 'Land of Kali.’

it's an absolute treat to have both of The Orchids Peel.sessions available digitally and on vinyl. I'd forgotten just how good they sounded. Four fantastic songs - a rip-roaring version of the much loved Caveman and the beautiful Dirty Clothing from the greatest album of the 90s, Unholy Soul. Truly wonderful. richardw27
